DVD Review: U2 - Achtung Baby: A Classic Album Under Review

During the 1980s U2 had fast become a critically acclaimed band who reached stellar proportions. Due to their puritanical approach to both music and performance their ability to maintain their status was failing. They had fallen into the trap of being defined by a sound that was too American and an approach that was too stadium.

Their album The Joshua Tree, which won the album of the year award at the Grammys in 1987, put them over the top, but they soon found that when you are at the top the only way to go is down. By the time of their next release Rattle and Hum, which was released simultaneously with a documentary of the same name, they had become redundant. The album received negative reviews from both film and music critics alike.U2 – Achtung Baby: A Classic Album Under Review takes us from the earliest beginnings of U2’s formation in Dublin, Ireland, through their early albums — Boy, War, October, and The Unforgettable Fire — into their career-changing performance at Live Aid in 1985.

Mazzaglia: Baby's death burrows into our conscience

More than a month has passed since an infant baby boy's body was found in Milford in the garbage of a trash truck. Meanwhile, authorities claim thay are awaiting autopsy results before considering what, if any, charges are made.

When asked by a Milford Daily News reporter, Police Chief Thomas O'Loughlin indicated that the case was still active. Charges would depend on autopsy results from the office of the chief medical examiner which, O'Loughlin said, could take up to eight months. However, information gained from other police sources suggested that eight weeks was more like it. In high profile cases the results could come in even faster.

Spokesman Tim Connolly for District Attorney Joseph Early's said that when the autopsy results were in, "the District Attorney would have something to say about it."

Hmm! With all the advances of modern medicine, wouldn't it be terrific if doctors could implant a special device that privately whispered answers into your ear whenever you asked the question: "What is the right thing for me to do right here and right now?"

Actually, such a device has already been deeply imbedded into each one of us.

Thom Disch, Founder and CEO of Internet-Engine added, ''The data show that the big box stores are not participating in search marketing programs such as those created by Google or Yahoo./ Smaller, eCommerce-savvy companies, comparison shopping websites and product manufacturers are generating a much greater search presence."
